Atlas Shrugged
So, I’ve been reading Altas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand, lately (I recommend anyone who is frustrated with the current economic situation read it), and I ran across a particular section that I like.
Hank Rearden is talking to Dagny Taggart of Taggart Transcontinental:
Dagny: “Is that the best price you can give me?”
Rearden: “No. But that’s the one I’m going to get. I could ask twice that and you would pay it.”
Dagny: “Yes, I would. And you could. But you won’t.’
Rearden: “Why won’t I?”
Dagny: “Because you need [me].”
Rearden: “That’s right. I like to deal with somebody who has no illusions about getting favors.”
Dagny: “[I'm relieved that] I’m dealing, for once, with somebody who doesn’t pretend to give favors.”
I personally am not a fan of companies that pretend to give clients a favor, when in reality, that’s the same price they offer to everyone. I always try and offer the best prices I can while still being able to keep our doors open. Occasionally, we offer discounts. But sadly, I admit that it is not out of charity, but rather the result of running a business in a very competitive market. The truth is, discounts get you customers you wouldn’t otherwise have.
There are many SEO companies that charge twice what is needed and people pay it. At Cirro Web Works, we have minimal overhead costs and little markup above costs. Thus, you are able to get an honest estimate up-front in a range you can afford.
